Menstrual Product Access
Menstrual Product Access Is About Dignity, Not Charity
We are sisters, Nishka and Kaanchi Utpat, and we started Utpat Foundation because we kept hearing the same story from girls our age and younger. They were missing school, sitting in pain, or feeling ashamed simply because they did not have access to basic menstrual supplies. What shocked us most was how normalized this silence had become, especially for school-aged girls in low-income communities.
Menstrual health should never determine whether a girl attends class, participates in sports, or feels confident in her own body. Yet for millions of girls across Pakistan, India, Latin America, and other Asian countries, lack of access to products remains a daily barrier. This is why our work centers on access to menstrual hygiene products for low-income girls, paired with education that removes fear and misinformation.
Menstrual product access is not a one-time donation. It is a system that includes awareness, affordability, distribution, and trust. Without all four, girls continue to fall through the cracks.
How We Support Girls Through Product Access and Education
At Utpat Foundation, we focus on meeting girls where they are. Many of the students we work with are encountering menstruation for the first time. Without guidance or supplies, that moment can feel overwhelming. Our programs combine product distribution with open, age-appropriate conversations about menstrual health.
We actively work on providing sanitary pads to marginalized communities by partnering with schools, local groups, and community leaders. These partnerships help us reach girls who may not otherwise be supported at home or through public systems. In school settings, this access directly improves attendance and classroom participation.
Education remains central to our mission. Through workshops and sanitary napkin awareness campaigns for schools, we talk directly with preteens and teenagers about what menstruation is, why it happens, and how to manage it safely. These sessions also help dismantle harmful myths that often lead to shame or isolation.
We also collaborate with nonprofit organizations donating menstrual products to extend our reach and ensure consistent supply. By working together rather than in silos, we can support more girls without duplicating efforts. Our long-term goal is sustainability, not dependency.

Building Menstrual Equity for the Next Generation
True change happens when menstrual health is treated as a right, not a privilege. That belief guides our menstrual equity programs for teens and preteens, which focus on consistent access, education, and confidence-building.
We have seen firsthand how a small intervention can make a lasting impact. A girl who once skipped school every month begins attending regularly. A student who felt embarrassed starts asking questions openly. These shifts matter, and they compound over time.
To keep these programs running, we rely on community support and fundraising for menstrual hygiene products. Every contribution helps us purchase supplies, develop educational materials, and expand into underserved regions. Fundraising also allows us to respond quickly when schools or communities reach out for urgent support.
Our work is not limited to one country or one school system. Menstrual stigma exists across cultures, and so must solutions. By addressing menstrual health early, especially for school-aged girls, we help lay the foundation for healthier, more confident futures.
