On May 26, 2024, my sister and I launched a book “Cycle of Confidence: Insights into Menstruation” on Amazon. After a personal visit to India a few years back, we witnessed the stigma surrounding menstruation and quickly understood that menstruation is often shrouded in shame. This acted as the kick-off to our A.M.H.I. Muli project and our overall Utpat Foundation as well. Deciding to address the societal and cultural barriers that impede progress towards menstrual equity, we penned this short book.
Through the book, we hoped to :
- Explore the importance of menstrual hygiene awareness and its impact on women’s reproductive health.
- Learn how education about menstruation can empower young girls to embrace their bodies with confidence and deal with this natural process with ease.
- Discover strategies to challenge taboos and foster open discussions about menstruation, fostering a culture of acceptance and support.
- Be inspired by the stories of courageous women and activists who have fought for menstrual rights and advocacy, and learn how you can advocate for change in your own community.
Beyond mere education, this book is a comprehensive feminine hygiene guide, providing essential information and practical tips for maintaining menstrual hygiene and promoting period empowerment. We hoped to shed light on the journey toward menstrual acceptance and liberation, especially for young girls out there seeking guidance and encouragement. Overall, this book is a quick and easy read that we encourage both men and women to give a chance as this is a topic that affects all whether it be directly or indirectly!
This is an accomplishment that both my sister and I are very proud of and couldn’t have achieved without the help of our parents as well as all of the participants in the A.M.H.I. Muli Project (including relatives, volunteers and of course, the girls who we’ve aimed to help). We can’t express the joy we feel at being able to share this with the world and we hope that those who read the book learn something along the way.
